Play Day

Well, yesterday started out as work day, DrillSgt. and I decided to have a yard sale in order to clear out the 3rd room in our house, turn it into a playroom for Da'Gorgeouses and regain control of our living room. It's been a week long process and we are closer to our goal, but I think it's going to take a little more time. If any of you out there are good at organizing and utilizing small spaces or have any advice I could sure use some help. I think the best advice would be to get out of the pack rat mode, I'll tell you what, there's nothing like having twins to light a fire under your butt to get rid of stuff (even stuff you never thought you'd ever get rid of)---LOL!! So, after waking up early to get things ready, getting Da'Gorgeouses ready after they woke up and had their breakfast, we went outside to join DrillSgt. Both Pistol and LongRifle LOVE being outdoors, usually we head out back so it was interesting to watch them react to being out front. We live on a busy street but have plenty of space between us and the road out front, even still LongRifle would cringe and whine every time a loud car passed by (I guess for now that's a good thing). Pistol of course had to explore everything her papá was doing, including going into the danger zone of our garage. DrillSgt. himself said it isn't fit for adults to walk around it, much less two tiny 2 year olds. We managed to keep her out of there, but let me tell you, it took a lot of energy. Since we plan to continue our yard sale tomorrow, I think I'll make sure to take out our gate and keep her out of the garage completely. On the bright side, we were able to get rid of A LOT of stuff/clutter, and make enough money to pay for new storage shelves we purchased (you know, to organize the rest of the clutter we'll have left).

It was also Da'Gorgeouses last day of their 2 week swim lessons. I'm happy to report they passed Tiny Tots 1 with flying colors, of course the only objective was for them to submerge their head underwater. The lifeguard even said they were ready to move on to Tiny Tots 2, and said it was rare that it only took them the one 2 week session to do it. She said usually kids their age take awhile to get used to putting their face underwater, and for the most part most kids HATE doing it. Not Da'Gorgeouses, Hooray!! DrillSgt. and I have discussed putting them in consecutive sessions next summer, although it takes a chunk out of our days, it's really worth it for them. So on the last day of all the 2 week sessions it's play day. They turn on the water works in the pool and bring out all the water toys. Da'Gorgeouses had a great time playing with beach balls, noodles, and a few other toys. I'll be sure to post some pics tomorrow.

I had the same-ahem-storage issues when we lived in California. I found some really helpful books at the library about organizing small spaces. Have fun!
