Socializin'

Da'Gorgeouses were quite the social butterflies today. We headed over to their great-great-aunt's house (on Welo's side---his aunt, my great-aunt) because she was having a get together. They haven't visited with this extended part of the family, so many of the faces were really new to them. It took them all of about 5 minutes to warm up and then they ran around like they owned the place, opening kitchen cabinets, chasing after the dog underneath the table, etc. At one point Pistol heard tia talking and saw the back of her head, she then headed straight over to her and said "Welita" (she was talking about TxG welita who is tia's sister). How she connected the two is beyond me since she hasn't seen WelitaTxG in almost six months! I tell you that kid has a memory like an elephant. They had a great time and learned a few new skills, like how to spin a bracelet on your arm and how to gently touch a tiny 7 lb, 3 week old baby. Looking at that tiny baby with Da'Gorgeouses standing next to her, it was hard to imagine that they were at one time even smaller than her (and she looked super small). It was nice to catch up with the cousins, talk about the latest happenings. One of my cousins has even taken up sewing, the last one I'd ever imagine to become a domestic goddess, she did a wonderful job. She even came out modeling the beautiful dress that she had made for herself!! WTG!! (Now why didn't I take a picture of that?!)

After our visit there, we stopped by to visit Angel and her parents. Da'Gorgeouses LOVE visiting there and made themselves right at home after squealing with delight when they saw Angel. We stayed quite awhile and by the time we were getting ready to leave, I could tell Da'Gorgeouses were ready. As soon as she heard Welo say, let's say good-bye, we're leaving, LongRifle made a beeline straight for the door, and there she stood!! Funny how she had no trouble finding her way out. It may have had something to do with her missing her nap.

That drive down there always messes them up. There little noses have been running nonstop since then. I'm convinced they have allergies, lots of sneezing and watery eyes. Pistol even snores at night, she has so much trouble breathing through her nose. I guess unless it gets super bad we won't be doing anything about it.

Overall it was a great day. Da'Gorgeoueses love to be out socializing and to watch them maneuver the crowds is just amazing to me. It's as if they are right in their element, stopping by each person to give them a touch or engage them in conversation. Pistol is a little more wary at first, but once she sees her sissy take off, she's right behind her, laughing and smiling. As they get ready to leave they make sure to use their hands to wave goodbye and throw out a few kisses. They must get all that from DrillSgt---if I remember correctly that's exactly what he did the first time I met him---LOL!!!
