An Explanation...
Let me explain the title of my previous post. December Madness begins on December 7th with my sis & bil anniversary, it is then followed by Grammy's birthday coming up on the 15th, my bil's b-day on the 18th (I do have that date right?!). Somewhere before Christmas we all gather to make the traditional tamales, and we can't forget Christmas Eve and Christmas Day (which we traditionally have plans for on both days). Let's add to that the fact that DrillSgt. and I being slightly psychotic and delusional at the time, were convinced/and only slightly coerced (thanks Grammy & Welo--LOL!!) to get married on December 30th (this due to the fact that my younger cousin that lived down south was getting married on the 23rd and ALL our out of state family would already be in town). Oh yeah, and then New Year's EVE!! All in all it's a rip-roaring, exciting and celebration filled month (albeit a little crazy and stressful). I'm thinking about convincing DrillSgt. we should move our official anniversary date to some warmer, less crazy and stressful month, maybe then we could actually get our act together enough to really GO somewhere and DO something---think he'll go for it?!

Not One To Be Ignored...
The other night we went out to dinner with Welo and Grammy. After dinner as we were loading up Da'Gorgeouses into their car seat Welo happened to be showering Pistol with kisses as he was saying good bye. He was also telling her how very cute she looked in her pink hat. I guess LongRifle was getting a little tired of not getting Welo's attention and looked straight over at him and said, "Welo, I'm over here too!" LOL!!

Well, Actually...
Yes, Pistol's at it again, she's using those big words and she's using them correctly! On Wednesday when I came home from my morning job Da'Gorgeouses were still asleep. I was able to have lunch and just as I was finishing I heard them beginning to stir. Well, actually, LongRifle woke up crying. and that's what woke up Pistol. She must have been surprised to hear her sister crying and I heard her ask, "What's wrong sissy? Why you crying?" LongRifle replied, "I want mama!" Pistol, in an effort to comfort her crying sister said, "Well, actually sissy, mama will be home soon. She's working, but she be home soon." I kid you not, I stared at my mom and said, "Did she just use the word actually?" My mom looked at me and said, "I think so." Not one to leave us wondering, Pistol repeated her statement, and yes, she ACTUALLY used the word, and used it correctly---LOL!

Why I'm Keeping My New Hairstyle...
I'd forgotten how much fun it can be to teach teenagers, they notice EVERYTHING!! I might have felt a little awkward about my hair cut up until last night. I'm keeping it and I'll share the comments that convinced me...
1. "You look really nice today."
2. "What did you do, color your hair?" (btw, No I did not color my hair)
3. "You look about 10 years younger! You must have colored your hair!" (No, wearing it in a bun just makes you look like a crazy old lady.)
4. "You look hawt!" (Said to me by my Paris Hilton wannabe girlie girl.)
LOL!! So I'll keep the hairstyle even though it takes me 10 extra minutes of work in the morning (those of you mommies of multiples know how precious those 10 minutes of down time can be).

Once Upon A Dream...
Those of you that know me personally may have noticed that I'm in desperate need of a haircut, the old hair in a bun/ponytail just isn't doing it for me anymore, besides I need some time to get used to a new do before the formal event on November 8th. It's been a long time (I think I blogged about it months ago) since I've even made time to do something for myself. So today I'm off to get a haircut! Wish me luck, since I'm thinking of cutting enough of it off so as NOT to be able to pull it back into a ponytail or bun (my usual hairstyle of choice)---LOL! On another note, I won a treat for myself. It seems that Kathy over at PinkChalk Studio had a random giveaway on her blog for her new pencil roll pattern and I won! Hooray! Now I have something to practice using my sewing machine for, I'm totally excited!!
On a much different note, Da'Gorgeouses are so much better today! Hooray! DrillSgt. stayed home from work today since he was feeling under the weather also. It turned out to be a good thing for all of us, we all got some good rest & I was able to take care of a few things around the house. Grammy made and brought us all delicious chicken soup for lunch and I'll tell you what she must have put a lot of love into making that pot of chicken soup because everyone was feeling so much better after lunch, it seems that Pistol was feeling so well when she was asked what she wanted to drink for mimi-time she replied in a serious tone, "I prefer to drink juice for mimi-time." Cracked us all up! Seriously?! That kid actually said, "I PREFER" what the heck?! DrillSgt. made a comment that once she gets to school none of her classmates are going to understand what the heck she's saying. When we recounted the event to Marisa and included DrillSgt's. comment (and after she got over her laughter) she told us she'd shared the whole "Why does this have to be so hard, this rabbit's going to starve!" story to Joan and had her laughing herself silly. Pistol's trying really hard to hold conversations with anyone who will listen and interact with her.
LongRifle isn't lagging far behind either. She's usually less talkative than Pistol but when she does speak she's also using complex sentences. Her "Where we going mama?" is now asked and answered. "We're going to Target with Grammy." "Did you hear that? That noise was a chicken." "Sissy wants milk, she doesn't want juice." And they can both sing the entire Sleeping Beauty song. I swear it makes me want to cry every time I hear their little voices sing it. The first time I heard LongRifle sing it, she'd just wrapped her little arms around my neck and put her cheek next to mine and started singing in my ear..."I know you, I walk(ed) with you once upon a d(r)eam. I know you, the g(l)eam in your eyes is so familiar a g(l)eam. And I know it's true that (v)isions are (s)eldom what they seem, but if I know you, I know what you'll do, you'll love me at once, the way you did once...upon a d(r)eam...
You can bet I had tears streaming down my face, after all up until May of 2006, I'd only walked with my 2 GORGEOUSES once upon a dream! Now here they are hugging me and dancing with me cheek to cheek and singing "Once Upon A Dream"!

Tina Fey In Training
Overheard on the monitor last night...in Pistol's voice....
"MoMmmmmm!"
"MoMmmmmm! Yooohooo!"
"MoMmmmmy! It's me, come in!"
Garbled word ending in der.
I looked over at DrillSgt. and asked, what did she just say?!
"MoMmmmmm!"
"Yooohooo! MoMmmmmmm! Come in, I want up!"
Now the next word was clear as a bell...
"LOUDER!" "MOMMMMMM! COME IN!!"
Seriously, too funny (and of course I HAD to go pick her up)!

This Week's Funnies..
- Marisa told Pistol "thank you." for something she had done, Pistol was walking away and turned back to look at her, nonchalantly saying "De nada."
- Pistol wanted soda from TiaStela, she was told to come ask me if it was okay. I was in the room and knew what she was supposed to ask me, when I nudged her a little to tell me what she wanted she replied, "Just say yes!"
- Walked into their room one morning this week and was greeted with large smiles, a big hug and the phrase, "Mamá, you the Queen!"
- Pistol was playing pretend and said, "I making coffee for Daddy." When Daddy arrived home and sat down with her, she asked him "You want coffee Daddy, I made some." He played along and pretended to drink his coffee. Her next question was, "You want a cookie with your coffee?" Too cute!
- LongRifle fell down and hurt herself. She came straight over to me and said, "I need a kiss!" "What happened I asked? Where did you hurt yourself?" She turned to face away from me, pointed straight at her tushie and said, "Right there, I need a kiss right there on my nalga!"
- A bit sad to report but Welo smokes. When they come over for dinner he walks out for a smoke. This week as he was walking out the door Pistol asked, "Welo, you gonna go moke? (without the s)"
- Both Pistol and LongRifle like Handy Manny. I asked LongRifle why she liked Handy Manny, her reply...."He's CUTE!"

Overheard in Conversation...
Last night over the baby monitor DrillSgt. and I listened to the following conversation.
*grunt*
"Are you pooping?"
"Yes, I'm pooping."
"Oh, okay."
"Are you pooping?"
"Yes, I'm pooping."
pause
"Is mommy working?"
No response.
"Do you like Tia Na-Na?"
"Yes, I like Tia Na-Na, sandwich feet."
"Do you like Tio Mike?"
"Yes, I like Tio Mike."
"Do you like Tia Na-Na?"
"Yes, I like Tia Na-Na."
"Oh. Do you like mamá?"
I waited holding my breath for the answer to come.
"I like Daddy."
"You like Daddy?"
"Yes."
"Do you like mamá?"
"Yes, I like mamá."
"Oh. Do you like Daddy?"
"Yes, I like Daddy too."
"Phew, foochie! I no like poopy smell!"
That's my cue, I heard what I wanted to hear AND that I needed to get in there. LOL!

Smart-Alecks
The other day that I brought my "G" over for a visit with the girls, we were having lunch and LongRifle was putting food all over her head and hair. I firmly told her, "Don't put food on your head, you're supposed to eat food." Her reply to me was, "It's MY head." Without skipping a beat, I simply told her, "It may be YOUR head but MOMMY has to clean it!" When I translated this conversation into Spanish for my grandmother she burst out laughing! So we're having dinner and invited my parents over last night. Pistol was pouring out her apple juice all over the table, she was cleaning it up as she poured, but still. So Welo takes away her apple juice and she looks over and tells him, "It's MY apple juice." (In the same sarcastic long, drawn out emphasis on MY that LongRifle had used the other day). Uggghhh...they're smart-alecks at the age of 2, what in the world are they going to be like when they get to be teenagers?!

While They Lay Sleeping...
While Da'Gorgeouses took a nap yesterday I decided to be productive, QUIET but productive. Not only did I manage to finish the laundry, but I took the opportunity to make them a few hair bows. Since I have such girlie girls and they are really into the wearing pretty ribbons & flowers in their hair (and the prices for buying them premade are ridiculous), I decided to try my own. I'd say not bad for the first time, (those are made from fake flowers, ribbon, metal clips, a shiny stone and some hot glue). Hey Tia Na-Na, want to bring over some of your cute ribbon & supplies, we can make some bows before you have to leave tomorrow?!
DrillSgt. said he had a rough night with them last night. I guess they were a little worked up and difficult to control (welcome to my world and be glad it was only for 3 hours). LongRifle is having the toughest time of it, and it doesn't help that it's difficult for others to understand what she's saying (mom knows because she's usually translating 24/7). In time it will get better...I know it will.
*******************************************************************************
Oh yeah, I forgot to post the funny (albeit slightly ego-bashing) comment I got the other day. DrillSgt. and I took Da'Gorgeouses to a second hand store on the "other" side of town, we spent a little bit of time looking around the inside and the store owner came over and watched us for a little while. When it came time for us to pay, she looked straight at me and said, "So you've got your grandchildren with you today?" LOL!! WTF?! I mean, I know it had been a rough week but seriously do I look like a grandmother? So after picking my mouth up off of the floor, I looked straight at her and said, "No, these are my daughters. We just got a late start." She looked slightly embarrassed (but not really) and said, "Oh, that's a good thing, good for you." Okay, so anyone have any suggestions on what kind of face cream to buy, if those are the comments I'm getting now and they're TWO, I'm soooo not looking forward to their teenage years--LOL!! DrillSgt. said not to worry about it, it's probably status quo to get people our age in there with their grandchildren, being as it is the "other" side of town.

Good Enough
I am beyond thrilled with our new playroom, the other night after Da'Gorgeouses had gone to bed it took me only a few minutes to put everything back where it belonged. Not only is it easy to clean, and serves well to contain the mess in a back room out of every one's sight, but yesterday Pistol and LongRifle cleaned it up ALL BY THEMSELVES!!! I was working on making lunch and told them that they needed to clean up so that I could change their diaper and have lunch ready. They had toys and books scattered all over the ground, I headed out the door to LongRifle singing "clean-up, clean-up" and when I returned 2 minutes later all the toys and books were put away. I was stunned, my mouth fell open and then I broke into a huge smile and clapped and cheered and praised the girls for doing such a wonderful job. I gave them both a huge hug and told them how proud I was they had put everything away by themselves. Then I gave them both a sticker and told them it was specifically for the clean-up job (they are still serious sticker fiends). When DrillSgt. came home I made sure to make a huge deal of telling him what they'd done, he praised them too, we also told Grammy & Welo and they did the same. I'm hoping this will serve to reinforce this wonderful behavior, who knows, maybe we can try this kind of thing with something else (I'm thinking potty training is next on our list).
On a sillier note, Pistol is kicking up her witty sense of humor a notch. The other day I asked her to give me a kiss (getting a kiss from Pistol is like competing for an Olympic gold medal---it takes tons of hard work). She came toward me, put her arms on my shoulders, leaned in...and smacked her lips mid-air! She made NO contact with my skin! So I asked her again, she repeated her actions and laughed, this happened several times, until finally she looked at me super serious and said, "No more kiss, that's... good... enough!"---LOL!! My parents sometimes tell me that she's the one that's going to give me all my grey hairs, that's probably true, but at least I'll be able to look back on moments like these and laugh!

Bossy
We head out camping tomorrow and I'm both nervous and excited. I'm not the kind of person that's really big on camping, not at all the outdoorsy type, but I can actually say I'm excited for Da'Gorgeouses. I really think they're going to love it. I mean all their cousins around, the great outdoors, water, bugs, animals, lots of food, smores, sleeping in a tent, all the new first-time experiences! I seriously doubt they'll sleep very much, LongRifle in particular, she's has super X-men hearing capabilities so I'll bet she's up at the crack of dawn telling me she heard the sun rise up over the mountains.
Speaking of LongRifle telling me things, that girl cracked me up today. I was getting ready to change her diaper and placed her on the changing table, she suddenly put her hand out in front of my face and shouted "STOP! Stop mamá, stop!" when I didn't pay any attention to her and proceeded with what I was doing she said, "Why you no listen to me?!" I just about died laughing! There's only ONE person in our family she could have picked up that phrase from....WELO!! Plenty of times growing up I've heard that phrase, and in listening to him correct Da'Gorgeouses I know he's still using it. "Stop, why don't you listen to me?!" My father's voice coming straight to me from my own child. How cool is that?
Grammy brought Welita (theG) over to visit. She took her to the pool so that she could watch Da'Gorgeouses swim today. They did very well, LongRifle went underwater (with help) and liked it so much she asked to do it again a couple of more times. Pistol wasn't too thrilled with the whole thing so she only did it once. She was content to fill up and pour water out of a bucket and back into the pool. She would entertain herself like that for hours if we let her. Pistol will keep to herself most of the time, she will interact with the pool staff and her sister but she's not too interested in playing with the other kids nearby, at least not yet. LongRifle however, immediately began bossing the other tiny tot around, "come back" she shouted or "get the ring!" she'd say, I had to remind her to at least say please. The little boy was a good sport, but for the most part he enjoys keeping to himself too---I guess I can't blame him, who wants to spend their half hour in the pool being bossed around by a girl?! (Hmmm, now that I think of it, DrillSgt. has been spending an awful lot of time this summer outside by himself)---LOL!!

My Future Princesses
So being the only children of their DrillSgt. daddy and being that they just so happen to be girls does not necessarily mean that they will only learn the girlie girl stuff DrillSgt. always seems to stress about. Yes, they love to wear dresses, yes, they twirl around and say "Princess" but deep down they're also budding tomboys. DrillSgt. has taught them a few choice words (nothing foul) but a few things that would make any proper young lady blush. Da'Gorgeouses don't seem to have that blushing thing down yet, of course, they are only two.
Overheard in conversation...
"I farted. Excuse me."
"It's okay, I farted too!"
Still makes me laugh out loud and this conversation took place this morning! Oh well, at least someone said excuse me!

Oh-oh!!
Let me start this post off by saying that we do our best to set a good example for Da'Gorgeouses. That being said, I just have to write about a conversation that took place today between LongRifle and her tia ta-ta-ta (aka Nina). Ta-ta-ta called to speak to Grammy while she just happened to be at our house having fun and spending some quality time with Da'Gorgeouses. They had just woken up from their afternoon nap and had TONS of energy. Grammy decided to put ta-ta-ta on speakerphone so that Da'Gorgeouses could talk to her. Pistol, who is usually all over the phone to talk to her twin ta-ta-ta, ignored the phone and continued to run around playing. LongRifle however, headed straight for the phone and said..."Hi, big butt!" LOL!! Now this is totally my sister's fault (do her eyes in the picture above give you any indication of what she's like?), since they were little she's told Pistol "you've got a BIG BUTT", squishing her diaper while saying it. So both Pistol and LongRifle use the word butt and nalgas correctly (maybe we could have used hiney or behind or bottom, but we didn't). For awhile now, Pistol has off and on addressed her tia as big butt, but more recently she just calls her ta-ta-ta. LongRifle has NEVER called her anything but ta-ta-ta UNTIL TODAY!! She didn't just use it once, she used it over and over again while speaking to her. Oh well, I wonder if ta-ta-ta will mind that Da'Gorgeouses call her big butt from now on, do you think it is something they will eventually grow out of?? Oh-oh, I hope it never slips out while we're in public!!!
******************Sickness Update*****************************
Da'Gorgeouses are still sick. Nose running, watery eyes, congestion, thankfully the low-grade temp is gone. They are however, snoring at night and waking up looking somewhat tired. I hope this cold is over soon.
